Since 1996 The Dialogue Consultants have provided
experience and innovation in our approach to
diversity training. Our emphasis is on understanding
the root causes of oppression, how it impacts us as
individuals, how we impact others, and what we can do
to change our perspectives and actions. We create a safe
atmosphere to dialogue with an emphasis on hearing and understanding all perspectives.
Preparation for Inter-Group Dialogue:
As part of the Dialogue Workshops, we separate the groups to
create the most comfortable environment to foster trust, open communication
and a willingness to listen to other perspectives. During this time we
lower barriers, build trust, and enhance communication skills. When the groups come
together they are ready to engage in open, honest and respectful Dialogue.
This component is key to the success of the program. We foster a sense of
comfort and respect in all Dialogues and Training sessions.
Tools for Dialogue:
We have developed a set of useful practices and guidelines that assist
participants in successful Dialogue. Each participant receives these
Tools and is encouraged to incorporate them into their workshop experience
and post workshop interactions.
We provide resources
on Dialogue, personal action plans, and introspection to help participants use
their new skills and continue their learning experience
outside of the workshop setting
Time and Place
We perform pre- and post- workshop evaluations with all participants.
We ask specific questions about their expectations, review their level
of experience discussing multicultural issues, and their concerns about
the group dynamic. The purpose of the follow-up survey is to solicit feedback
on how their goals were reached and what specific skills they gained.
We consult with you to assess the specific needs of your organization.
During this consultation interview we review your organization's history
and "hot topics" which may be relevant for inclusion in the training session(s).
